It has been kind of a crummy week around here. Well, for me at least. I have been sick since Tuesday. I am not even really feeling much better today.
I have been volunteering at the local middle school once or twice a week and since the middle of September. This is my third time getting sick since then. All those middle school germs must be new to my immune system. Darn you middle school germs!
I will admit I was having a hard time figuring out what free thing I was going to "cherish" this week. Mostly because I have turned into a huge sick baby. Usually, I can still somewhat function when I am sick. Not this week. Maybe it's because I am tired of being sick or because I am getting older and I just don't shake these things as well but I'm an achy complainy congested baby. Sorry
That's when it hit me that I probably needed to reflect on this week more than ever.
So, I am thankful for all the ways my family helped me out this week. Thankful for my son, who was a chipper gopher as I laid on the couch. He didn't whine once when I asked him to fetch my purse or phone or whatever a gazillion times. I am thankful for both my daughters, who showed that they can make a mean cup o' tea with honey and lemon with only minimal arguing on who gets to cut the lemon. And lastly for my husband, The Sailor, who was missing in action for most of the week for work but came home to make dinner and go on a much needed grocery store run.
It's not fun being sick but it's also not fun being around someone who is sick either. I am glad they didn't shun me.
But I have to say my absolute favorite free thing this week is the extra hour of sleep I got. Thank you daylight savings time. Sorry, Arizona. Although you guys don't lose an hour come spring. Lucky ducks.
