We used to live near Seattle and every once in awhile we would get some clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl. It was yummy. Now we are thousands of miles away from any decent sourdough bread. I decided to try and recreate a little bit of Seattle, so I attempted to make some bread bowls for our clam chowder this weekend. Attempted being the operative word. By hand and from scratch, I made the dough only have my "bowls" be more like "cups". The recipe called to divide the dough into eight, next time I will do six.
It wasn't all bad, they tasted really good and the house smells wonderful. I also enjoyed making it. I rarely make yeast breads, but I may start more often.
