Last week I missed out on posting what my free thing was, with Halloween craziness I just plum forgot, but I did do something free and had a blast. The day before one of my daughters Halloween party I got a desperate call for goodies and I was all to happy to help out. I told the other mom I could bring cupcakes. I didn't want to spend any money so I made chocolate pumpkin cupcakes from scratch. Yey me! It was fun and I even decorated them like little mummies, with frosting I made from scratch. It pays to keep a stocked pantry. They were a hit too.

So this weeks favorite free thing I did was volunteer at the Scholastic Book Fair. It was chaotic and fun. As tempting as it was I didn't buy anything. My kids went the day before and bought what they wanted, so there was no need for anymore purchases. I know how much work goes into these things, at our last school, before we moved here, I was the book fair chairperson. So I like to help out as much as possible, it is a big job. There are far more volunteers here than our last school, it is so nice. It is also a great way to meet new people. We live in a very small town where most everyone knows each other, except for me, I know hardly anyone. It is somewhat intimidating, all the more reason to meet new people.
